Pathways Home, Workforce Development Instructor (Hybrid)
The Workforce Development Instructor will deliver job readiness and financial education coursework to support the Pathways Home initiative. This initiative expands access to financial education, job-readiness preparation, increases the number of occupational skills training courses available during incarceration, and provides dedicated staff who specialize in workforce development to help participants navigate their training and career goals.
The Workforce Development Instructor will employ innovative teaching techniques, incorporate modern technology, and modify instructional techniques to accommodate the requirements of participants in a non-traditional setting. This position necessitates robust teaching and facilitation competencies to effectively engage diverse learners and ensure successful knowledge transfer.
Position Details:
The Workforce Development Instructor reports to the Director, Human Resources Operations and works closely with staff across divisions, EPG contractors, and other external stakeholders. The position is Exempt from overtime and does not have a supervisory function. The salary range is $58,000 – 61,250 annually. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, internet allowance, paid time off, and 401(k), profit sharing. This position is Full-time, Grant-Funded (Contingent on grant renewal).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead workforce-related workshops within the county correction facilities to support completion of re-entry programs.
- Works directly wiht the Department of Corrections and local service providers to plan reintegration from incarceration to the community.
- Deliver engaging job-readiness sessions, including resume writing, interviewing, career exploration, and job search strategies.
- Conduct financial education workshops to promote resources to confidently manage finances.
- Facilitate one-on-one and group instruction to meet the specific needs of participants.
- Differentiate instruction to effectively reach a variety of learners.
- Integrate technology to enhance the learning experience.
- Track and report participant progress and outcomes as required.
- Foster a positive and motivating learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned to support the Pathways Home Initiative.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Human Resources, Social Science, Public Relations, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience.
- At least 2–4 years of experience providing consultative services to businesses, with an emphasis on talent acquisition.
- Experience working with career pathways, sector strategies, apprenticeships, or similar workforce programs.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and consultative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of labor market information and workforce development trends
- Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) certification
- Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) or similar workforce development certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic workforce development principles and WIOA regulations
- Knowledge of employment and training services, federal, state, and other local workforce development policies and procedures.
Expectations of EPG Instructors:
- Provide exceptional internal and external customer service. Exercise “situational awareness,” keep current with client and market needs, and articulate how EPG can help address them.
- Work closely with internal and/or external customers, individually and/or in groups, to identify specific challenges, determine courses of action, and assist clients in taking the necessary actions.
- Conduct internal and/or external outreach to provide information to current and prospective clients, recruit prospects, coordinate interactions, etc. for assigned programs.
- Identify problems (e.g., commonly experienced process issues, client challenges) and opportunities, and recommend changes to supervisors to effectively resolve them.
- Respond, in a timely and accurate fashion, to supervisor and/or management team requests for information, e.g., collecting and assembling data, and participating in drafting reports.
- Handle multiple operational and/or administrative responsibilities simultaneously, independently and with attention to detail, ensuring timely completion to established standards.
- Employ excellent professional judgment in independent decisions and actions as well as other activities, following SOPs and escalating issues appropriately.

About EPG's Education, Training & Assessments Department
Located in the Human Resources Division, the Education, Training, & Assessments (ETA) Department focuses on closing the skills gaps of Prince George’s County residents who are seeking employment. Our Education services focus on academic skills and career readiness, including resume writing, interview skills, soft skills, and other skills essential to overall readiness. Our Training services provide occupational skills courses and resources to prepare job seekers for credentialing. Our Assessments services administer diagnostic exams. Our services prepare job seekers to be competitive and polished in the job search process. The ETA team collaborates with program staff in the Workforce Services and Human Resources Divisions to prepare and place job seekers into employment. The department is led by the Director, Education, Training, & Assessments and includes Workforce Development Instructors and Remediation Instructors.
