Workforce Development Instructor, Hybrid
The Workforce Development Instructor, under the leadership of the Director, Human Resources Operations, provides one-on-one and group training at all Employ Prince George’s locations, including American Job Centers and Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network access points. The Instructor will ensure job seekers receive career readiness, basic skills, and occupational skills training that prepares them for post-secondary training or employment. They will also provide career guidance, mentoring, and one-on-one assistance in preparing participants for opportunities for job placement for all populations.
Position Details:
The Workforce Development Instructor reports to the Director, Human Resources Operations and works closely with staff across divisions, EPG contractors, and other external stakeholders. The position is Exempt from overtime and does not have a supervisory function. The salary range is $58,000 – 61,250 annually. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, internet allowance, paid time off, and 401(k), profit sharing.
Essential Responsibilities:
Workforce Development Instruction
- Provide in-classroom and one-on-one training in the areas of career assessments, career readiness, life skills, workplace survival skills, occupational skills training, and other skills required to secure and retain employment
- Conduct assigned presentations at outreach events including schools, community meetings, and events of civic, government, faith-based and governmental entities
- Facilitate workshops at partner locations, including lesson planning, grading, assessments, evaluations, and reporting
- Evaluate and grade participant progress and deliverables during workshops, ensuring positive student outcomes, ensuring instruction meets the needs of staff, businesses, ensuring instruction meets the needs of job seekers, ensuring instruction leads to positive program outcomes and ensuring instruction leads to the employment of graduates with businesses in Prince George’s County and DC Metropolitan Area. Evaluate workshop participants’ progress to determine work readiness and suitability for program progression
- Integrate digital and social media, web tools, and instructional technology to enhance instruction and to strengthen participants’ digital literacy
- Maintain adequate knowledge of Employ Prince George’s and Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network programs and initiatives to inform stakeholders accurately
- Attain and maintain certification to administer exams to determine the basic academic skill level of program participants and interpret scores to make program progression recommendations
- Conduct occupational credentialing training programs and administer respective credentialing exams across various industries as offered by Employ Prince George’s and the American Job Center Community Network
Curriculum Development
- Participate in the development of Employ Prince George’s professional development training, career readiness, basic skills, and occupational skills training curricula for Employ Prince George’s staff, job seekers, in-demand industries, businesses, and targeted demographics to prepare job seekers for careers in in-demand industries
- Evaluate and recommend new software, technology, and training materials where appropriate
- Develop presentations and workshop material templates that include, but are not limited to, the following: PowerPoint presentations, digital media resources, sign-in sheets, and other materials as appropriate
- Maintain a supply of teaching and training materials to assist in the delivery of instruction
- Attend training programs from technical or vocational schools in order to learn skills and knowledge to deliver industry-specific occupational training
Data Entry & Reporting
- Manage data and perform data entry related to workshop participants, the success and progress of workshop participants, and metrics determining workshop participant success
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in teaching or classroom facilitation or a combination of education and experience totaling the minimum requirements
- Certification in workforce development and/or education
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging one-on-one or effective classroom training and workshops that educate and motivate
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction in order to effectively reach a variety of learners; ability to integrate technology into the learning experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, detailed and independently inherent organizational and time management skills
- A valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) certification
- Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) or similar workforce development certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic workforce development principles and WIOA regulations
- Knowledge of employment and training services, federal, state, and other local workforce development policies and procedures.
Expectations of EPG Instructors:
- Provide exceptional internal and external customer service. Exercise “situational awareness,” keep current with client and market needs, and articulate how EPG can help address them.
- Work closely with internal and/or external customers, individually and/or in groups, to identify specific challenges, determine courses of action, and assist clients in taking the necessary actions.
- Conduct internal and/or external outreach to provide information to current and prospective clients, recruit prospects, coordinate interactions, etc. for assigned programs.
- Identify problems (e.g., commonly experienced process issues, client challenges) and opportunities, and recommend changes to supervisors to effectively resolve them.
- Respond, in a timely and accurate fashion, to supervisor and/or management team requests for information, e.g., collecting and assembling data, and participating in drafting reports.
- Handle multiple operational and/or administrative responsibilities simultaneously, independently, and with attention to detail, ensuring timely completion to established standards.
- Employ excellent professional judgment in independent decisions and actions as well as other activities, following SOPs and escalating issues appropriately.

About EPG's Education, Training & Assessments Department
Located in the Human Resources Division, the Education, Training, & Assessments (ETA) Department focuses on closing the skills gaps of Prince George’s County residents who are seeking employment. Our Education services focus on academic skills and career readiness, including resume writing, interview skills, soft skills, and other skills essential to overall readiness. Our Training services provide occupational skills courses and resources to prepare job seekers for credentialing. Our Assessments services administer diagnostic exams. Our services prepare job seekers to be competitive and polished in the job search process. The ETA team collaborates with program staff in the Workforce Services and Human Resources Divisions to prepare and place job seekers into employment. The department is led by the Director, Education, Training, & Assessments and includes Workforce Development Instructors and Remediation Instructors.
